From a winter wonderland in winter to an adventure enthusiast's haven in summer, Park City, Utah is an underrated US travel destination.

Park City is a great travel destination for those who want the amenities of a big city, like lots of great restaurants and public transportation, but don't want the chaos. This city is perfect for a family vacation, couples getaway, or solo adventure.

1. Sundance Film Festival

This one is for you movie lovers! If you're planning a trip to Park City in January, grab some tickets for the Sundance Film Festival that takes place here every year. This festival and the mountains are Park City's claim to fame, so it will be busy, but so worth it. Just make sure you buy tickets in advance!

2. Explore Historic Park City

Stroll down Main Street into the Historic District of Park City. There are tons of shops and restaurants to visit; take a look around the Park City Museum and learn about the town’s unique history. You can hop on a bus from Park City Mountain, or bundle up and walk through the cute neighborhoods to get here.

3. Heber Valley Train

Located about 25 minutes from Park City Mountain is the Heber Valley railroad. This is a great way to enjoy the scenery while staying warm if you’re visiting in the winter! They have a calendar of events so you can plan in advance. If you're visiting Park City in December, go for the North Pole Express ride! It's a great activity for all ages.

4. Sleigh Ride Dinner

Take an authentic horse-drawn sleigh ride up the mountain to the Snowed Inn. You’ll get blankets to wrap up in on the sleigh, and the inn is heated with blazing fireplaces and hot cider. With this experience, you’ll also get a delicious 3-course meal with live music! They have multiple options for the main course (including vegetarian) and a bar if you want to add drinks to your meal.

5. Snowmobiling

Feeling adventurous? Hop on a snowmobile! Check out Park City Peaks for tour options and find one that suits your schedule. They offer 2, 3, and 4-hour trips as well as private excursions. This is a more expensive activity, but makes for an awesome adventure!

6. Olympic Park

Have you ever dreamed of competing in the winter Olympics? Stop at the Olympic Park and bobsled on the track used in the 2002 Salt Lake Olympic Winter Games! Talk about an epic winter outing. Just note that you must be at least 16 years old to ride.

7. Kimball Art Center

This local nonprofit organization opened in 1976 and offers exceptional art exhibitions for locals and visitors. They also have an array of classes and programs. Check out the Kimball Art Center website to see what’s happening while you’re visiting Park City!

8. Homestead Crater

Swimming? In winter? That’s possible (and enjoyable) at the Homestead Crater. Enjoy swimming, snorkeling, and even scuba diving at this geothermal pool hidden under limestone. The water stays at a constant 90-96 degrees Fahrenheit, which makes for a nice mid-winter dip.

The downtown historic district of Park City is fun to explore in the summer as well. With tons of local shops and beloved gear shops, shopping is definitely possible in Park City. There are also lots of great restaurants and coffee shops in downtown Park City; stop for an outdoor lunch break in between shopping!

Are you a fan of live music? Plan a day at the Deer Valley Music Festival. You can buy tickets in advance for the shows you would like to see. There are dining options on-site, including a picnic basket available for preorder. Grab your picnic bag and have fun feasting to fantastic live music.

Homestead Crater is a famous geothermal pool located about 30 minutes from Park City Mountain. The crater is on the Homestead Resort grounds, but you don't have to be a guest to enjoy the relaxing geothermal pool.
