The Best Restaurant in Sulphur Springs, TX: Haystacks

The Best Restaurant in Sulphur Springs, Texas | Alpacka My Bags

Welcome to Sulphur Springs, Texas! If you’re a local, jump below for my coffee and food recommendations. Visitors, let me tell you a little about this Texas town.

Sulphur Springs is a small town located off the I30 about halfway between Dallas and Texarkana, the Texas/Arkansas border.

If you’re on a Texas road trip, this town is worth a stop, if only for the food from Haystacks, the nicest restaurant in town.

It’s the best restaurant in Sulphur Springs, it’s open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and it’s family-run! Can it get any better? Let’s dive in.

Haystacks: The Best Restaurant in Sulphur Springs

  • Located at 206 Main St. Sulphur Springs, TX | Right off the main square!

  • Open Tuesday - Saturday | 8 am to 9 pm

  • Sunday 8 am to 3 pm

  • Full Restaurant, Coffee, & Bar

**Solar Eclipse Visitors: Haystacks has confirmed they will be open on Sunday, April 7th and Monday, April 8th from 8 am to 9 pm!

Parking for Haystacks

There are a few parking spots in front of the restaurant as well as around the square. You can also park for free in the Tesla charging lot and this church parking lot.

Best Coffee Shops in Sulphur Springs

Not only is Haystacks a family-run restaurant, it’s also a full coffee bar! Serving classic espresso drinks like lattes and cappuccinos made with Italian Lavazza beans, Haystacks also offers signature drinks like their Texas Sunrise which is a white chocolate raspberry latte (ok, I'm drooling).

Grab a coffee with your brunch or stop by for the perfect pick-me-up midday. The coffee shop is located in the back of the restaurant framed by the large window. There are several tables to sit down at, perfect for a coffee date.

Remember to ask what their daily pastry is! The owner often makes fresh muffins, cookies, or other delicious pastries in the mornings. They’re a perfect pair with a hot latte.

  • Try a Haystacks signature drink like the Texas Sunrise or the Tried n’ True

  • Ask what their daily pastry is, the owner’s homemade muffins are the best!

  • Stay for a coffee date in the bar or grab a coffee to go

There is also a Starbucks in Sulphur Springs and another cute coffee shop called Routes.

Best Brunch in Sulphur Springs

With a few choices for breakfast and brunch restaurants in Sulphur Springs, I’m telling you right now, the best option by far is Haystacks. The service here is great, the staff are always so friendly, the food is fresh, and the atmosphere is high end country.

They’re very helpful when it comes to dietary restrictions. There are several vegetarian options, as well as gluten free, keto, etc. If you’re unsure, ask your server! As a family-run restaurant, you can tell they want everyone to have a great meal.

My favorite brunch food at Haystacks is the Gardyn Benedict as I’m a vegetarian. My travel group all said their food was amazing, I’ll share their top picks below. Don’t forget to pair your brunch with a mimosa!

  • Chicken and Pancakes - A Southern Classic with a twist

  • Gardyn Benedict - Fried Green Tomato, Spinach, Avocado, Cheese

  • Cowboy Quiche - Cheddar, Spinach, Tomato, Onion, & Bacon

  • Mr. Foster’s Crepe - Bananas Foster on Crepes

Best Chicken and Waffles in Sulphur Springs

Are you looking for the best chicken and waffles in Sulphur Springs? Head to Haystacks downtown! With a killer brunch menu, including coffee and drinks, Haystacks is the spot to be.

If you’re not from the south, this is your sign to indulge in this southern favorite. Chicken and waffles are a must when in Texas, and Haystacks has the best in Sulphur Springs.

They recently added a couple of twists to this classic! You can order the standard chicken and waffles, or switch it up with the chicken and pancakes or the maple bourbon chicken and waffles (can it get any better).

Best Lunch in Sulphur Springs

This family-run restaurant also has the best lunch in town. When the weather is nice, take your lunch break outside! The patio here is dog-friendly and a great spot to enjoy downtown Sulphur Springs.

The favorites for lunch at Haystacks include the 903 Burger, the tacos, fish n’ chips, and chicken fried steak. Again, the dietary-friendly menus make it easy for everyone to have a great meal.

The salads here are delicious too and a great option for a lighter lunch. My top recommendations for lunch at Haystacks are:

  • 903 Burger

  • Tacos & Sandwiches

  • Fish n’ Chips

  • Chicken Fried Steak

Best Dinner in Sulphur Springs

What started as just a brunch restaurant has now grown into a full-on breakfast, lunch, and dinner spot. Haystacks not only has a killer brunch and lunch menu, but they’re the best dinner in Sulphur Springs too!

If you’re looking for a higher-end dinner place, this is where you need to go. The family-run restaurant in small town Sulphur Springs knows how to make a delicious meal. Dinner here is the perfect way to end the day.

My top menu picks for dinner from Haystacks are:

They also have a full bar! Pair a fun cocktail or a refreshing glass of wine with your meal. If you’re a fan of sweet cocktails like me, I recommend the Bee’s Knees, Malibu Sunrise, or Aperol Spritz.

Haystacks Restaurant, Coffee, & Bar

If you’re visiting this small Texas town, make sure you leave yourself time to wander around the square downtown.

It's the cutest place in town and it’s where you’ll find the best restaurant in Sulphur Springs, Texas, as well as fun boutiques, an ice cream parlor, and a grassy square to walk around!

Haystacks is the nicest restaurant in town and it offers delicious brunch, lunch, dinner, coffee, and a full bar. What?!

They’re very accommodating when it comes to dietary restrictions, the staff are friendly, the atmosphere is comfortable, and the decor is high-end country.
